10 pc GDP growth achievable in 5 years

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the annual growth will be taken to 10 percent in the next five years as the continuation of the country’s economy is going forward.

She said this while visiting the Ministry of Public Administration at 10:00 am on Thursday.

To the public administration officials, the Prime Minister said, “Ensure a strong position against corruption so that the corruption will not occur at any stage.”

“Since the formation of the government, we have always monitored the ministries field level work. Because, we want to make sure that people services can reach their doorstep,” she also said.

Earlier, the Prime Minister entered the Secretariat at 10:00 am on Thursday. On the occasion of the inspection of the Ministry of Public Administration, extensive security measures were taken at the Secretariat.

After the formation of the government last year, she will visit different ministries and divisions gradually. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started the program through the Ministry of Public Administration.

The Prime Minister will visit every ministry to bring the mobility of the work and will give necessary direction. After forming government on January 12, 2014, the Prime Minister visited various ministries and divisions.

According to sources, during her visit, the Prime Minister inquired about the latest state of the development projects that were taken in the past. In addition, she also gave necessary direction to implement the promises and election manifesto given to the people.

Awami League got absolute majority in the 11th parliamentary elections held on December 30. The ruling Awami League won 257 of the 299 seats in the election. In total, they got 288 seats. On the other hand, the main Opposition BNP and its alliance Jatiya Oikyafront got only 8 seats.

On January 7, a 46-member new cabinet was formed after winning the 11th parliamentary elections. In this cabinet, there are 24 ministers, 19 state ministers and three deputy ministers besides the Prime Minister.
