Online application process of admission test for academic session 2018-19 at Jahangirnagar University (JU) ended on Sunday.
A total of 171 admission aspirants are going to vie for each seat at the admission test that will be started from September 30.
Breaking all previous records, a total of 3,22,946 students have applied against around 1889 seats under 6 faculties and 3 institutes in this year, sources of Admission Management Committee said.
In this year, the Biological Sciences faculty (D Unit) gets a total of 72953 applications which is the height number of applications among the faculties.
Besides, 64710 applications has submitted in Physical Sciences Faculty (A unit), 36447 in Social Sciences faculty (B Unit), 69120 in Arts and Humanities faculty (C Unit), 20123 in Business Studies faculty (E Unit), 32680 in Law faculty (F Unit), 10058 in Institution of Business Administration (G unit), 18690 in Institution of Information Technology (H Unit) and 8165 in Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative literature and Culture (I Unit) for the academic session 2018-19.
‘Around 3 lacks of admission seekers have already completed the online application process successfully by paying application fees’, member of Admission Managing Committee Associate Professor Dr Wahiduzzam of Institution of Information Technology told The Daily People’s Time.
‘The number of applicants may increase, as 5 days remain for payment of application fees that will be concluded on September 22’, he added.\
Meanwhile, JU Deputy Registrar (Education –1) Abu Hasan said, ‘The number of seats may increase by 20-30 that will be finalize on September 18 by a formal meeting’.
