2 consumers hurt in police misfire while buying TCB onion

Two consumers, including a woman, have received bullets after police misfired on the mob who engaged in a scuffle while buying onion from a truck of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in Sylhet’s Rikabibazar area.

The incident happened around 1:15 pm on Monday when bullets accidentally came out from a shotgun of police in front of Nazrul Auditorium.

Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Rita Akhter said: “TCB started selling onion at Tk 45 per kg this morning in the area. At one stage, the consumers engaged in a scuffle and bullets came out from a shotgun of the on-duty police members, leaving two people injured.”

“Later, police brought the situation under control and the injured have been admitted to the hospital,” she added.
