Awami League does not expect any foreign interference in the next general election as the people are the source of strength of the party, said the party’s secretary general Obaidul Quader.
“People are our source of power. People will decide who will run the country,” said Quader while speaking at a press conference at Hazrat Shahjajal International Airport’s VIP Lounge.
The 19-member AL delegation has returned home from India on Tuesday afternoon.
He said neighbouring country India has nothing to interfere in the parliament polls and the ruling party also does not expect it.
“Foreign forces can be our friend. But we do not expect their interference in election,” said Quader, also the Road, Transport and Bridges Minister.
The AL leader further said the party’s delegation visited India at the invitation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold party to party discussions.
Expressing his hope for much-awaited Teesta treaty, Quader said: “We have expressed our concern about crisis of water during the talks.”
Among others, AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim and AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua were present at the briefing.
