AKM Fahim Mashroor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bangladesh’s largest job site bdjobs.com has been released hours after his detention from the city’s Karwan Bazar area.
A team of police detained Fahim from the 7th floor of Bangladesh Development Bank Limited Bhaban around 12:30 pm and released him after several hours.
He was detained for interrogation, he added.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CCTC) arrested him from his office at BDBL building in city’s Karwan Bazar on Wednesday morning.
Earlier on April 22, a case was filed against him with the capital’s Kafrul Police Station under section 57.
Al Amin Sadiq, who is the former Mass Education Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Dhaka University unit, filed the case against Fahim.
According to the case statement, Fahim harassed the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina online.
Fahim Mashroor is the CEO and founder of country’s largest job website bdjobs.com and CEO of e-commerce marketplace Ajker Deal.
He has also been awarded the SME Foundation (Medium Entity, Service Category) – 2018 as the best entrepreneur of the year.
On April 4, he received this award from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He has been elected the BASIS’s director in the newly elected committee.
According to the case statement by Al Sadiq, the posts made by Fahim mocked Sheikh Hasina and instigated the general public against her. According to him, the posts were of an insulting nature and led to unstable situation in the country. They were also insulting to the government.
Citing a total of 8 complaints, he further demanded due action against Fahim be taken as soon as possible.
