Canadian businessmen have shown interest in investing more in Bangladesh.
FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim has called on Canadian businessmen to invest in trade diversification, as well as potential sectors like leather goods, medicines, frozen seafood, ceramics, jute products, information technology, and home appliances.
The issues were discussed at the Bangladesh-Canada Business Forum-2019 jointly organized by the Bangladesh Consulate General and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) in Toronto.
FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim highlighted the recent economic progress of Bangladesh in welcoming the forum and urged Canadian businessmen to invest more in Bangladesh by taking advantage of the government’s attractive investment benefits.
Sheikh Fahim said: “Bilateral trade in Bangladesh and Canada reached $1.6 billion in the last fiscal year. Out of this, Bangladesh exported $1.12 billion worth of goods and imported $500 million worth of goods. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the FBCCI and the OCC to expand bilateral trade between the two countries.
FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim and OCC President Mr. Rako Rossi signed the memorial on behalf of his organization.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Ontario’s Minister for Economic Development, Employment, and Trade Mr. Victor Fidley were present there.
