Twin girls- Toufa and Tohura conjoined at hip have been successfully separated after an operation of 6 hours at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The first operation was completed at 2:30pm on Tuesday, Dr Kaniz Hasina Seuli, Professor of pediatric surgery was the key-pin of this operation.
She said that the 10-month-old Toufa and Tohura were undergoing another operation which would take about three hours.
Dr Ashraful Haq Kazal, a Professor of pediatric surgery department said that burn and plastic surgery unit doctors would perform the second surgery.
Toufa and Tohura were born on September 29 ,2016 at Jhihia village in Gaibandha’s Sundarganj upazila to Raju Mia and Shahida Begum. The twins shared the same rectum and urinary passage.
Doctors successfully detached their rectum units after they were admitted to the DMCH on October 8. They were admitted into the DMCH on April 21 for the second time.
