Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has asked the BNP to not play any political games using Rohingya refugees.
“Everyone, regardless of thei affiliated parties or political ideologies, should stand by the Rohingyas at this time of crisis. No one should play politics with the issue,” the road transport and bridges minister told reporters at a meeting in Munshiganj on Friday.
“Don’t play mean politics using the issue. You are trying to achieve political mileage by exploiting the human catastrophe of the Rohingyas,” he said alluding to the BNP.
On Friday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir accused the government of failing to deal with the issue diplomatically or humanely.
“When their aircraft violate our airspace, the government remains silent. This is nothing but a subservient foreign policy,” Fakhrul alleged.
Quader responded by saying, “Accusing the government will not solve the problem. We seek help from everyone. It’s a human disaster that will affect our life and society.”
He addressed journalists after a visit to oversee the progress of the construction of a bridge at Malibagan road at Satiantali in Sirajdikhan Upazila.
