Election Commission (EC) has ordered removal of all types of campaign materials including posters, banners, and potential candidates in different parts of the country on the upcoming national election.
The following order has been issued on Wednesday 12pm. A letter was sent to the concerned authorities on Friday signed by the EC’s joint secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan.
In addition, EC on a press release said on Friday that the eleventh parliamentary elections will be held on December 23. If there is a possible candidate’s poster, banner, wall writing, billboards, gate, arcade or gate, pandal and illumination etc in the election, it has been instructed to move the concerned person on their own initiative before 12pm on November 14.
At the same time, the city corporation, municipality, various local government institutions were also instructed to take necessary action.
Parliamentary elections will be held on December 23. The last day for submission of nomination papers is November 19, Monday. The day of the nomination paper is November 22, Thursday. The last day of withdrawal of candidacy is November 29, Thursday.
On Thursday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the election to the nation on Thursday. CEC’s speech was broadcast live through Bangladesh Television and radio.
In context, according to the constitution, there is constitutional obligation to hold elections for Eleventh National Parliament by January 28. Starting October 31, the counting time of the election period began.
However, the Election Commission was determined to complete the polling by December. For this, on 1 November, President Abdul Hamid met with the overall preparation of the election, the EC said.
Tenth National Parliament Election was held on 5 January 2014.
