Govt violates constitution by signing anti-state deals with India: BNP

:: Peoples Time Online ::

The government has breached the Constitution of the country by inking constitution by signing ‘anti-state’ bilateral documents with India, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He said: “We strongly condemn the anti-sate deals, including the withdrawal of water from the Feni River by India.”

Rizvi made the remarks while addressing a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office today.

He further said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should step down for breaching her constitutional oath by signing the unilateral documents with India to protect her own interests.”

“She [Sheikh Hasina] has lost all the constitutional rights to remain in the post of the head of the state,” he added.

On Saturday, Bangladesh signed seven bilateral documents with India after a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.
