The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) accorded a fresher’s reception for the students of 48th batch of 2018-19 academic session on Thursday.
The gala programme was held at seminar room of Jahir Raihan auditorium on the campus.
Presided over by JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam, Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Prof Abdul Mannan inaugurated the programme as chief guest.
Addressing the function Prof Abdul Mannan said, ‘The beauty of the campus will increase when every student will be real human beings with human values. The government of Bangladesh is trying to improve education sectors in a systematic way. Now about 39 lakh students are studying in higher education institute. The future of happy and prosperous Bangladesh is dependent on new generation’s students.”
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam said, ‘University teaches a student to think and enter the new state of knowledge. Newbie students will have to enter the new knowledge state carefully.’
She also urged the students to stay away from militancy and drugs by thinking of the people of their family, country, society and the state.
Conducted by the chairman of Public Administration Dr. Jebunnessa, Pro vice-chancellor Amir Hossain (administration), Pro vice-chancellor (academic) Nurul Alam, Treasurer Sheikh M Munjurul Haque, Registrar Rahima Kanij and deans of all faculties, among others, were present at the function.
