The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today observed the 48th anniversary of Victory Day with due respect to the martyrs of Liberation war, a wave of ecstasy, and in a befitting manner on the campus today.
At beginning of the day, JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Farzana Islam paid homage to three million martyrs and freedom fighters of the Great Liberation War by placing floral wreaths at the National Mausoleum.
Pro-VC (administration) Professor Amir Hussain, Treasurer Professor Sheik MonjurulHuq, Dean of different faculties, JU acting Registrar RahimaKaniz, Provosts of different dormitories, teachers, students, and officials were accompanied the VC in placing wreath among others.
Later, Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA), Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association (JUJA), the leaders of different political student organization, JU Cultural Alliance and different socio-cultural organizations also placed wreaths separately at the National Mausoleum.
Meanwhile, the university authorities organized different programme on the campus marking the victory day. A three-day long exhibition on liberation war-related books, journals, posters, and photography was started on Saturday.
Besides, the whole university area and dormitories have been illuminated with colorful lights and special dinner has served at the dormitories marking the day.
