A ‘View-Exchange’ programme jointly organized by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad and Student Welfare and Counseling Center of Jahangirnagar University (JU) held at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan auditorium on the campus on Thursday to mark the International Women Repression Prevention Fortnight- 2018 and the World Human Rights Day.
The program was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Dr. Farzana Islam.
Addressing the function, JU VC said, ‘Prevention of sexual harassment is a social movement. We must have to forget the discrimination between men and women and think ourselves only as human being’.
‘If we want to wake up, we will have to know, listen and read. We have to create a situation under our control. To prevent such crimes like sexual harassment, we will have to be physically and mentally capable to us’, she added.
She also urged everyone to come forward to resist sexual harassment on women so that they become secure at their respective workplace in the society
Presided over by Director of Student Welfare and Counseling Center Professor Rasheda Akhter, JU Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq and President of the central committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Ayesha Khanm addressed the function among others.
Around 200 students and teachers of different departments and institutes took part at the function.
