Nazmul-Alam’s extortion at Narayanganj in name of AL

Notorious terrorists Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan and Alam have been doing extortion, peddling drugs and grabbing lands in Rupganj area of Narayanganj district for long days in the name of ruling Awami League. Apart from this, the business people of the area are facing enormous problems and disturbance due to their extortion and criminal activities. Local people alleged that accused of several cases Nazmul and Alam have been conducting their yaba business in the area managing police in several ways. As part of their extortion, Nazmul and Alam went recently to Amber Board Mills at Rupganj of Narayanganj and demanded extortion but the officials of the Amber Board Mills regretted to give them extortion.

Later, they threatened them at the gun point and beat the officials and staff of the board mills. Besides, Nazmul and Alam threatened to kill them and close the factory if they are not given extortion. The close circuit camera of the factory recorded the footage of their misdeeds. Accused Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan’s father name is late Anwar Hossain Bhuiyan and other accused terrorist Alam’s father was late Abdus Sattar.

They are the residents of Hatabo village of Rupganj upazila. Though they are doing extortion in the area in the name of Awami League but it is known that they are not involved in Awami League politics even they don’t hold any post-position in Awmi League, locals said. Locals and different factory sources also said Nazmul and Alam change their political identity and introduce them as activist of ruling political party so that they can collect extortion from different factories. They collect extortion on the regular basis from different factories of the area. There are allegations that they injured officials and staff if they are not given extortion.

In response to a question on why Nazmul and Alam are not being arrested, Police Super Mainul Haque said, “I am just informed about the matter through you. Rupganj Police Station will look into the matter.” Regarding the matter, Officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station Moniruzzaman said, “I did not get yet any written complaint. They (Nazmul and Alam) will be arrested after the written complaint.”
