Padma Bridge done 62 percent: Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that so far 62 percent of the Padma Bridge construction has been completed.

During the question-answer session for the Prime Minister in the Parliament, in response to the star-studded question of Pirojpur-3 constituency MP Rustam Ali Fazizi, the Prime Minister informed this on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said, due to the piling for the technically complex bridge, it has been redesigned. With the direction of the domestic, international experts, there is some additional time have been expensed to complete all the designs. Despite this, all efforts were made to complete the construction of the Padma Bridge by December 2019.

The Prime Minister also informed that, land acquisition has been completed for the rail connection of Dhaka- Narayanganj-Munshiganj- Shariatpur and Madaripur  and more 1 thousand and 203 acres of land is under acquisition for another connection in Dhaka-Faridpur-Gopalganj areas.

Meanwhile, Regarding Jamaat, Prime Minister said, “There is a case remaining in the court to ban Jamaat-e-Islam. We cannot do anything until the verdicts of that case are there. If the court verdict fast, then Jamaat will be banned as a political party.” She told this in response to a supplementary question of Chattogram-2 Constituency MP Sayed Nazibul Basar(Tariqat Federetion).

The Padma bridge is being constructed with full native funding of Tk30 thousand 193 crore 38 lakh.
