Red-Green Bangladesh in Space

:: Dr. Kazi Ertaza Hassan ::

Red-green means the pulsation of every Bangladeshi heart. Our honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the craftsman of this pulsation. Bangabandhu’s dreams ‘Sonar Bangla’ placed herself in the list of developed country through her charismatic leadership. Bangladesh developed in the regime of Awami League led government. Today a special moment is waiving for the nation. The satellite is ready to be launched. If weather remains favourable the Bangabandhu-1satellite will be launched into the orbit on Friday.

A new era of communication will be opened through launching the Bangabandhu-1satellite. In a statement of Kenedy Space centre it is said that Bangabandhu-I will be launched at 4pm local time (BST 2am Friday) from the Cape Canaveral launching pad in Florida by Falcon 9 rocket of American firm SpaceX. Bangabandhu-I will offer video services for Direct-to-Home (DTH), e- learning, Tele-medicine, Family Planning, Farming etc while voice service to cellular backhaul and disaster recovery, etc and data service for internet, SCADA, SOHO as well as business-to-business (VSAT) etc. it will take three week to reach onto orbit. Also I have been invited by the Kennedy Space Center to be present at this historic moment. I cannot present there due to my mother illness but my mind will be there.

I would like to enjoy such a historic moment from Bangladesh. Now I want to say, “Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh can paint the symbol of red-green in space”. It can be mentioned that services will get from Bangabandhu Satellite-1 after 3 months of in-orbit test or IOT. It will be controlled by two ground stations in Joydevpur of Gazipur and Betbunya of Rangamati. The ground station at Betubuniya will be at the backup station. The work will be done at the Joydevpur station. Total cost of implementation of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 is Tk 2,990 crore. Bangabandhu Satellite has been built in France’s Talis Elinya Space Facility. After the construction, examination, review and transfer, it is sent on the special cargo plane by the launch of the Cape Purchase Vehicle.

Although December 16 last year was set to launch the satellite, but it delayed due to heavy casualtiesof Hurricane Arma suffered a major loss in Florida. The government hopes, the cost of launching this satellite will be saved costs $ 14 million for foreign satellite rentals. There will be 40 transponders in the Bangabandhu satellite, 20 of which will be kept for use in Bangladesh and the rest will be possible to earn foreign currency. After started Stage-2 . Re-usable Stage-1 is available in the Stable-2 in Stuttgart, a distance away from Satellite in space.

The first step is the Launch and Arrival Orbit Fee (LEOP), and the second step is Satellites in Orbati. The LEOP step will take 10 days and in the next step, 20 days. This satellite will go away from this place of excavation, 36 thousand kilometars . The Rocket is going to 35 thousand 700 kilometas, after will open the Stage-2 . After the Ground Station Satellite was opened in Gazipur and Batbuniya for satellite, its control would go to the United States, Italy and Korea’s three ground stations.

From these three stations, the satellite will control its orbit (119.1 east longitude orbital slot). He said that the satellite will take around 20 days to get full control, and after the launch of the satellite, its control will be handed over to the Ground Station of Bangladesh. The whole launch will be shown on the SPExX website.
