At least three people, including a woman and her minor daughter, were killed in separate traffic accidents in Munshiganj and Bogura on Monday.
In Munshiganj, Parvin Begum, 35, and her daughter Samia, 3, were killed as a car ran over them at Jashaldia in Lauhajang at about 10am on Monday, reports our correspondent in Munshiganj.
Lauhajang police officer-in-charge Monir Hossain said the microbus, allegedly driven by Medinimondal union chairman Ashraf Hossain Khan’s son Fahat Khan, ran over them on Mawa-Kabutarkhola road, leaving them critically injured.
Locals rescued them and took to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, where the minor girl died at about 11am. Later, Parvin, who was being taken to Dhaka’s Mitford Hospital for better treatment, also succumbed to her injuries on the way.
Neither the chairman and nor his son could be reached for comment.
In Bogura, a biker was killed as his motorcycle hit a roadside tree, while he was trying to avert a collision with a speeding truck at Sarkarpara in Shahjahanpur upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kutub Uddin, 25, of Nadurpukur village in the upazila.
Shahjahanpur police sub-inspector Gausul Azam said they could not identify the truck.
The body was handed over to the family for burial.
