The holy Shab-e-Barat will be observed in the country on April 21 as the Shaban moon was not sighted in Bangladesh sky this evening.
As the moon of Shaban was not sighted, the month of Rajab will end on Sunday on completion of 30 days and the holy Shaban month will begin on Monday.
The decision came at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation office at Baitul Mukarram in the evening. State Minister for religious affairs and also chairman of the committee Advocate Sheikh Md Abdullah presided over the meeting.
According to Islamic belief, Shab-e-Barat is the night when the Almighty writes the destinies of human beings for the coming year by taking into account their past deeds.
