The official hearing regarding the divorce of film stars Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas will take place on January 15.
The hearing will take place in the office of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) zone-3. The city corporation authorities have already sent notices to both Shakib and Apu regarding the hearing, said officials on Thursday.
Shakib Khan had sent the divorce notice to the DNCC through postal mail on November 22 last under the Section 7(1) of Muslim Family Law-1961.
The corporation then set out for official proceedings regarding the much talked about divorce and to that end, the hearing will be held on January 15. The notice had been sent to both Shakib and Apu on December 24 last.
Regional executive officer and executive magistrate of DNCC Zone-3, Hemayet Hossain informed Ittefaq that the office will record their hearings.
“If they want to continue their marriage, they can do it as per the religious laws. If they do not want it and pushes for divorce, two more notices will be sent to them. If they still don’t want the marriage to last, the divorce will be official after the third notice of hearing,” said the DNCC official.
Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas got married on March 16, 2008 according to Islamic marriage customs. Apu was renamed Apu Islam Khan before the matrimony.
They had a son together, but their marriage had been kept a secret for a very long time.
