According to sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s APS-2, former vice-president of BCL, Saifuzzaman Shekar, has purchased the nomination form from Magura-1 seat. Present MP (Parliament member) ATM Abdul Wahab Saifuzzaman Shekhar has been working in the area for the last 5 years. Besides, the Prime Minister also wants Shekhar to nominate for this seat.
For this reason, he will be called from Magura-1 constituency from nine seats to get nomination form from Dhaka-17 constituency. Abul Kalam Azad of Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) of the current MP 14-party alliance of the constituency. In the 2008 election, Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad was elected a member of parliament from this seat.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Saturday morning, both Shakib and Mashrafe will collect nomination papers tomorrow. Both of them were asked to go for a meeting.
