A section of teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University on Sunday continued their strike for the ninth consecutive days demanding the removal of vice-chancellor Farzana Islam over allegations of corruption.
The protestors under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar Against Corruption’ blocked both new and old administrative buildings from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday. They also blocked examinations controller office. Due to the strike, administrative activities were almost halted.
Around 1.00 pm, protesters brought out a procession from ‘Vice Chancellor Removal Mancha’. After parading different streets on the campus, the procession terminated at old administrative building.
Meanwhile, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has urged Anti Corruption Commission to investigate the allegations of irregularities and corruption against JU Vice Chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam in development project of the university through a press release on Sunday. They also urged Farzana Islam to resign from her post temporary for a fair investigation.
