Several people including a deputy commissioner of police (Motijheel zone) were injured in the clash between hawkers of footpath and traders in gulistan, today.
To control the clash in front of the Dhaka Trade Centre, Police fired several rounds of tear shells and rubber bullets around 11:30am.
According to Paltan police, atleast one hundred traders and hawkers were detained from Gulistan where the clash took place.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia visited the spot and told reporters that police will take action against the hawkers who clashed today.
Yesterday, the clash ensued when members of Dhaka Trade Centre (South) Shop Owners Association asked the hawkers to leave the area.
The traders claimed, the hawkers refused to leave the area and attacked them.
