People from all walks of life has paid their last respects to gallant freedom fighter Sadeque Hossain Khoka, the last mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation, after his body was brought back from the USA this morning.
The mortal remains of the BNP vice-chairman was taken to the Shaheed Minar at 12:10pm after a namaz-e-janaza at the south plaza of Parliament.
It was kept there until 12:50pm before being taken to the BNP’s Nayapaltan headquarters.
The first namaz-e-janaza of the prominent freedom fighter was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building at 11 am.
At this time, members of the parliament, senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat and other senior officials attended the event.
Earlier, Khoka’s body reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital around 8:30 am. After 9:00am, an ambulance, with his body, went to South Plaza of the Parliament House.
The second namaz-e-janaza will be held in front of the BNP party office in Nayapalton. Khoka’s body will be taken to his residence at Gopibagh after the third janaza at Dhaka South City Corporation.
The fourth janaza will be held at the local Dhupkhola field. His body will be buried next to his parents at Jurain graveyard.
On the same flight with the body, Khoka’s wife Ismat Hossain, elder son Israq Hossain, younger son Isfaq Hossain, daughter Sarika Sadeq, an adviser to the BNP chairperson and former deputy mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation Abdus Salam arrived in Dhaka.
Sadek Hossain Khoka, vice-chairman of the BNP, died at a New York hospital on Monday. He died of cancer at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York, United States. He was 67.
