A section of students of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College have threatened to go on hunger strike demanding the release of grade nine class teacher Hasna Hena, who was arrested in a case filed over the suicide of Aritree Adhikari.
Students gathered in front of Baily road branch of the school on Sunday morning and announced the hunger strike if the teacher is not released.
Earlier on Wednesday, detectives arrested Hasna Hena from the city’s Uttara over the suicide incident.
A Dhaka court sent her to jail the next day.
Adhriti Odhikari, daughter of Dilip Odhikari, and a Class-IX student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, reportedly committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence in Dhaka on Monday after allegedly being rebuked by teachers for using mobile phone during examination.
Reportedly, the school authorities had threatened to expel her from school and had insulted her father.
