Este Medical MD Faisal sent to jail in niece's sexual assault case

A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent Mohammad Faisal, managing director of Este Medical Bangladesh, to jail after he surrendered in a case filed over the alleged sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order after rejecting the accused's bail petition, prosecution department Sub-Inspector Tahmina Akter confirmed.

Earlier, Faisal surrendered before the court through his lawyers and sought bail. Advocates Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan, Abul Kalam Khan, Golam Mostafa Khan, and several others appeared for the defense.

They demanded bail for the accused, arguing that the allegations were false and had been brought due to a family dispute. They further claimed that the case had been filed a month after the alleged incident.

On the other hand, advocates Khorshed Mia Alam, Jahirul Hasan Mukul, and several others appeared for the complainant and opposed the bail petition. The court later send the accused to jail.

Earlier, on 23 April, the victim's father, Mohammad Habibur Rahman, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station, where he alleged that the accused lured the girl with offers of outings on March 2025.

The case claimed that the victim accompanied the accused because he was her maternal uncle where he harassed the victim on several occasions. The accused also allegedly sexually assaulted the girl in a car after offering to teach her how to drive on 24 June.

The victim, the case claimed, initially kept quiet to protect family relations but suffered psychological trauma. The incident was revealed on 17 April, when she confronted the accused at her elder sister's wedding, the case documents said.
