![]() Al-Amin Poner Elected Information Technology Secretary of Tejgaon Press Club On Saturday (June 13), the newly elected members of the Executive Committee took their oath at the club's office. The oath was administered by Chief Election Commissioner Md. Mainuddin Ripon. Earlier, voting for the positions of President and General Secretary of the Tejgaon Press Club Election 2026–27 was held on Friday (June 12). In the presidential election, Md. Habibur Rahman, contesting with the laptop symbol, won with 35 votes. His opponent, Nargis Chowdhury, who contested with the pen symbol, received 3 votes. For the position of General Secretary, S.M. Shamim, contesting with the camera symbol, was elected with 38 votes. His opponent, Md. Babul Islam, who contested with the microphone symbol, received no votes. Candidates for the remaining positions were elected unopposed as there were no competing candidates. The newly formed Executive Committee includes: Executive President: Md. Rashed Hossain Swapan Senior Vice President: Md. Ilias Mia Vice President: Md. Shafiul Azam Joint General Secretary: Atikur Rahman Assistant General Secretary: Md. Abdul Halim Organizing Secretary: Md. Bahar Chowdhury Finance Secretary: Md. Sarwar Hossain Khan Women Affairs Secretary: Nargis Kabir Office Secretary: Abu Bakar Siddique Russell Publicity and Publication Secretary: Md. Mostafizur Rahman Khan Literature and Library Secretary: Md. Zahidul Islam Information Technology and Research Secretary: Md. Al-Amin (Poner) Sports and Cultural Secretary: Shahinur Rashid Khan Education and Training Secretary: Mohammad Abu Yusuf Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Secretary: Zakia Hossain Legal Affairs Secretary: Advocate Ziaur Rahman Khan Executive Members: Md. Shafiqul Islam, Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, and Md. Ferdous Ahmed During the oath-taking ceremony, the newly elected leaders pledged to work collectively for the development of the club, the protection of journalists' professional dignity, and the welfare of its members. Election Commissioner M. Ekramul Haque Asad, along with club members, journalists, and well-wishers, attended the event. Congratulating the newly elected committee, Chief Election Commissioner Md. Mainuddin Ripon said, “Under the leadership of the new committee, Tejgaon Press Club will move forward as a stronger and more dynamic organization.”
