The activities of the BCS (Taxation) Association, the organization of the tax cadre officers under the National Board of Revenue (NBR), have been suspended indefinitely. This was announced in a press release issued by the association today, Saturday.

The press release was signed by the association’s president, Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui, and General Secretary Syed Mohidul Hasan.

According to the statement, "A comparative review has been conducted on the recommendations of the NBR’s Reform Advisory Committee and the recently issued ordinance. In light of this, the association considers it extremely important to address the concerns arising among the officers and employees of the tax department. Therefore, senior members from both wings of the NBR have been tasked with coordinating a proper resolution to the current situation."

The statement further added, "Under these circumstances, based on the advice of senior members of the association and the Income Tax wing of the NBR, today’s extended meeting of the BCS (Taxation) Association’s executive committee has been postponed. At the same time, all activities of the association have been suspended indefinitely."
