No possibility of BNP's alliance with Jamaat: Salahuddin Ahmed

BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that there is no possibility of their alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami.
He said this while talking to reporters at his residence in Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday.
When asked about the upcoming election alliance, he said, “Discussions are underway with several Islamic parties. We believe in Islamic values. However, there is no possibility of an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami.”
Stating that the national election will be held in early February 2026, Salahuddin Ahmed said that there is no doubt in this regard between the Election Commission, the government or the BNP.
Regarding the July Charter, the leader said, “No such proposal will be accepted that cannot be questioned in court. At the end of the day, it will be implemented through parliament.”
Stating that if any party does not want to go to the election, it is their decision, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “Those who boycott the next election will themselves become minuses. I hope no one will take that risk.”
On the question of selecting candidates for the elections, he said, “Those who have played a role in the anti-fascist movement will be given importance in selecting candidates. The BNP leader also mentioned that those who will do merit-based politics will represent the party.”
