Meeting between BUET students, two advisers ends without outcome
A meeting between an 11-member delegation of protesting engineering students and two advisers of the interim government concluded on Wednesday evening without any resolution.
The meeting took place around 7:00pm at Rail Bhaban in the capital and lasted for approximately one hour.
Advisers Fouzul Kabir Khan of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, and Syeda Rizwana Hasan, environment adviser, were present.
Fouzul Kabir Khan said that of the seven-member committee formed to address the students’ issues, five members were absent from the meeting.
He added that the full committee will meet again on Thursday to continue discussions, which will also include relevant teachers and other engineering students.
Commenting on an unintended remark regarding the Jamuna-bound march, Fouzul described the incident involving the students as “unfortunate” and said that a police representative would apologise for the matter.
Student representatives at the meeting said that they would provide a detailed account of the overall situation to their fellow protesting classmates.
