Anyone with BCL background can still join NCP: Nahid

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Md Nahid Islam has said anyone can join the party, even if they were engaged in politics with Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir or Chhatra League in the past.

"Whether someone was Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir or Chhatra League in the past, it is not a major issue to us. Those who join the NCP today will work as the party's organiser, leader or activist," Nahid said.

"However, those who participated in the mass killings, involved themselves in extortion and are accused of committing corruption can never come to the NCP," Nahid added.

He made the remarks while addressing a press conference organised at NCP's temporary office in Dhaka's Banglamotor on Sunday afternoon, April 19, to mark the joining of various platform leaders to the party.

About those who joined NCP today, Nahid said, "Maybe there were different platforms, but we have all been together for a long time. Today, we are officially coming together."

He also urged the country's people of all ages, especially the young, to strengthen the NCP by joining the party.
