Iranian FM flies rumors on Iran-China strategic agreement

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has said that Tehran will not give a single piece of land to China or any other country.

Javad Zarif made the remarks in response to rumors about a 25-year strategic agreement between Iran and China.

He denied all such rumors and anti-Iranian reports. Rumors are circulating in various media that Iran will hand over part of its territory to China under the deal.

Jawad Zarif said the agreement with China was still under negotiation but the foreign ministry had received permission from the government to negotiate the agreement with China.

Rejecting rumors circulating in the media, Zarif said it was not true that all rumors were circulating that Kish Island or a few other islands in the Persian Gulf would be handed over to China under the deal. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture.

"We have not handed over one square kilometer of land to China or any other country, nor will any country be able to take special advantage of even one square kilometer of Iranian land," Zarif said.
