Bangladesh’s dominant victory over New Zealand by 7 wkts

Bangladesh has defeated New Zealand by a big margin in the first T20 of the five-match T20 series. The Tigers won by 7 wickets, drowning the Kiwis in shame. This is the first victory of the red-greens against the Blackcaps in the T20 format.

Bangladesh surpassed the target of 61 runs given by New Zealand with 7 wickets and 30 balls in hand. With this victory, the Tigers went ahead 1-0 in the series.

Mohammad Naim and Liton Das came down to chase the easy target for Bangladesh. Naim was dismissed for 1 run in the first ball of the second over of the innings by Cole McConchie. With this, McConchie made his debut as a wicket-taker.

In the next over, Liton, who scored 1 run, got stamped while playing ahead with the ball of Ajaz Patel. Then Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim started to lead the team towards victory. When Shakib was dismissed for 25 off 33 balls, the partnership of 30 runs broke.

Mushfiqur easily crossed the rest of the way with Mahmudullah Riyad. In the end, the two remained unbeaten on 16 and 14 runs respectively.

Ajaz Patel, McConnie and Ravindra took one wicket each for New Zealand.
