Tofail Ahmed at ICU
|
Veteran politician Tofail Ahmed, also a member of the Awami League's advisory council, has been kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in India. However, doctors described his health condition as “stable”. Tofail Ahmed is being treated at Medanta Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Haryana's Gurgaon, about 9 km away from Delhi. Doctors recommended him for some medical check-ups after examining. Dr Arun Garg, head of Neurology Department at the hospital, said, "His condition is stable. We put him in the ICU for further observation." "There is nothing to worry about," he said, adding: "Hopefully, we would be able to send him to a cabin bed by tomorrow, if everything goes well." Tofail Ahmed was flown to the Indian capital, Delhi, for treatment on Friday afternoon after suffering a stroke on August 30. The five-time Member of Parliament, the 77-year-old politician has served as a minister in several ministries under the Awami League government.
