Train services resume on Dhaka-Tongi section after 6hr

Train operations on the Dhaka-Tongi route resumed after a six-hour suspension following the withdrawal of student protests.

The students of Govt. Titumir College ended their indefinite hunger strike after receiving government assurance that necessary steps regarding their demand to upgrade the college into a university would be taken within the next seven days. Following this, they vacated the rail tracks at Mohakhali, allowing train services to resume.
Confirming the resumption of train movement, Dhaka Railway Station Master Mohammad Anwar Hossain, said on Monday (February 3) night that train operations had remained suspended from 3:40 PM to 9:50 PM. The first train to depart after services resumed was the Silk City Express (753) bound for Rajshahi at 9:50 PM from Dhaka Station.

According to sources at Bimanbandar Railway Station, the Egarosindhur Express, which was stranded at the station, departed for Dhaka Station at 9:50 PM, while the Upakul Express, en route to Noakhali, resumed its journey towards Bimanbandar Station from Tejgaon Station.
