Former Dhaka MP Habib's Assets Worth 6 Crore, Transactions Total 311 Crore The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Member of Parliament for Dhaka-18, Mohammad Habib Hassan, over allegations of possessing illegal assets worth nearly Tk 6 crore and suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 311 crore. On Thursday (April 10), the ACC’s Director General Md. Akhter Hossain confirmed the filing of the case. Akhter Hossain stated that Habib Hassan is accused of acquiring wealth worth Tk 5 crore 90 lakh 17 thousand through dishonest means, inconsistent with known sources of income, by abusing his power and engaging in misconduct as a public servant. Additionally, suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 310 crore 76 lakh 72 thousand 364 were allegedly conducted through 28 bank accounts linked to entities associated with him. Charges have been filed under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012. |
