Pakistani Conglomerate Engro Exploring Business Opportunities in Bangladesh Abdul Samad Dawood, CEO of Pakistan’s Engro Holdings, met with Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh. Their discussion on Thursday primarily focused on potential investments in the country. During the meeting, the Engro CEO expressed particular interest in Bangladesh’s telecommunications and energy sectors, and shared his company’s intentions to expand its operations. “We are very optimistic about the potential of the telecommunications sector in Bangladesh,” said Samad Dawood. “We also see an opportunity to contribute to the development of the industrial sector through the supply of gas from Bhola.” Chief Advisor Yunus welcomed this interest and emphasized the importance of sustainable and future-oriented partnerships. “We want to focus on long-term projects that bring positive change to the lives of our people,” said the Chief Advisor. Dawood, who is in Bangladesh to attend the Investment Summit, praised the four-day event. “The BIDA Summit had a human touch—it felt warm, welcoming, and purpose-driven. I was amazed to see so many leading companies under one roof,” he said. Professor Yunus extended an invitation for Engro’s leadership to visit Bangladesh again and explore further opportunities for collaboration in various sectors. “I invite you to return,” said the Chief Advisor. “Bangladesh has much to offer—not just to investors, but to the entire world.” Present during the meeting were Chief Advisor’s Special Envoy Lutfe Siddique, SDG Chief Coordinator Lamia Morshed, and Chief Secretary to the Chief Advisor Sirajuddin Mia. |
