Tribute to the Martyrs of the Mass Uprising through a Drone Show A drone show was held to pay tribute to the martyrs of the July mass uprising. The show took place at 7 PM on Monday evening in front of the National Parliament building, at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital, as part of the Bangla New Year celebrations. The event was jointly organized by the Government of China and the People's Republic of Bangladesh, with full support from the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka. The approximately 15-minute-long show featured a total of 2,600 drones, which depicted 12 different motifs. The drone show began with an image of a bird flying out of a cage—symbolizing the break from oppression and rule, a metaphor for the rise of a new Bangladesh, known as “36 July.” The show then portrayed Abu Sayeed from Rangpur, the first martyr of the uprising, standing bravely with arms outstretched and chest forward, facing police bullets. This powerful moment was recreated through drones. Another segment showed martyr Mir Mughda, who ran with a case of water to quench the thirst of protestors in Uttara, calling out, “Water needed, water,” as he distributed water. The show also included an image expressing the solidarity of the people of Bangladesh with the liberation struggle of Palestine. A six-member Chinese expert team began working on the drone show back in February. A total of 13 Chinese pilots and drone specialists operated the show. |
