Reserves exceed 22 billion dollars The foreign exchange reserves in Bangladesh have surpassed $22 billion. According to Bangladesh Bank, this positive development is due to increased inflows from remittances and export earnings. As per the International Monetary Fund (IMF) calculation, the country's foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.04 billion as of today, Wednesday. A week ago, the reserves were $21.41 billion. However, according to Bangladesh Bank's own calculations, the current total reserves amount to $27.41 billion. Officials from Bangladesh Bank stated that in March, the country received $3.29 billion in remittances — the highest amount ever recorded in a single month. According to data from Bangladesh Bank, in the first 29 days of April, $2.61 billion in remittances have been received. |
