JCD nominated panel announces 10-point manifesto

The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) nominated panel announced an election manifesto for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, reports the Daily Sun.
At a press conference held at 12:45 pm on Thursday, the panel’s vice president (VP) candidate Md Abidul Islam Khan announced the 10-point manifesto, describing it as a “transformative plan” to ensure student welfare, academic excellence, women’s safety, and campus modernization.
With the announcement of the manifesto, it has become the first panel to present its commitment before the Dhaka University students, ahead of the 33rd DUCSU.
“We do not make empty promises. Each of our points is directly related to the daily problems and future dreams of students. We will implement these by forming an effective DUCSU administration,” Abidul Islam said while unveiling the manifesto.
Key highlights of the manifesto include the safety and dignity of female students, student health insurance and shuttle service, academic and research reforms, digital security and eco-friendly initiatives, culture, sports, and international connections, and expansion of cultural and sports activities.
The panel pledged to protect freedom of dress, strengthen measures to prevent harassment, and ensure female students are accorded the “highest social status.”
“Every female student has the right to the highest status. We will create an environment where there is not fear, but respect and freedom,” Abid said.
The manifesto promised health insurance for all students and the introduction of a battery-powered shuttle service on campus.
The panel claimed the initiative would ease student movement and reduce environmental pollution.
Commitments included curriculum modernization, infrastructure development, enhancing research quality, and ensuring equal opportunities for students with special needs.
The panel vowed to take measures to prevent cyber bullying and strengthen digital security. It also proposed waste management reforms, conservation efforts, and building an “animal-friendly” campus.
The JCD panel also promised to expand sports activities alongside greater international engagement of Dhaka University to strengthen its global standing.
“We are agents of change. Our goal is to make the experience of students memorable and solve every problem of the university with practical solutions. We believe in change, not promises,” Abidul Islam added.
The DUCSU election campaign is gradually gaining momentum as different student organisations prepare to present their visions for the university community.
