Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that rebuilding the country from the ruins has now become the new challenge for the BNP government. He made these remarks on Saturday morning at a discussion meeting with district leaders of BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital. Mirza Fakhrul said, “You have just finished a major battle. That battle was to protect the people of the country, protect the nation, and safeguard democracy. You have won that battle. We have achieved a majority in parliament. Under the leadership of our leader Tarique Rahman, we have been able to form the government.” He further said, “Today, we are facing a huge challenge. We have come to power from within a heap of destruction. Wherever you look, you hear ‘nothing, nothing, nothing.’ In reality, that is the situation. Rising from this devastation and rebuilding not only the party, but also the government and the state — this is our new challenge.” The BNP Secretary General said that overcoming this challenge is their main goal. “We are highly confident that our leader Tarique Rahman, who guided us even while in exile, led a successful uprising in the country and at the same time came to power through a successful election victory.” Addressing party leaders and activists, he said, “I humbly request all of you to remember his leadership and the sacrifices of the party leaders and workers, and further strengthen the party. We must take the works of our party to the people at the grassroots level and maintain close connections with them.” Earlier, at around 10:45 am, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed the discussion meeting as the chief guest at the Krishibid Institution in Farmgate. The meeting, chaired by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, was attended by BNP Standing Committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Selima Rahman, and AZM Zahid Hossain. |
