![]() Young generation must be educated with ethical values alongside digital literacy: Information Minister He said that without a strong foundation of morality in the minds of young people, it is not possible to ensure the proper use of knowledge and technology. He made these remarks as the chief guest while speaking at a national seminar and scholarship distribution ceremony titled “The Role of Moral Education in Implementing the Vision of ‘Bangladesh First’,” organized by the Bangladesh Student Welfare Trust at the Daffodil Tower auditorium in the capital on Sunday. The minister said that society and the economy are rapidly becoming digitalized. From personal communication to business and trade—everything is now dependent on digital platforms. However, many structures in the country are still unable to keep pace with this rapid transformation. He added, “We must quickly transform the state into a modern digital character. At the same time, emphasis should be given to promoting content on social media that helps build moral values among the youth.” Referring to the political changes of 5 August, the minister said that if the moral standards of a statesman or responsible person are not properly maintained, the consequences are never good. He said, “Human beings have inherent animal instincts, and to control them, the practice of aesthetic and moral values must begin from childhood. Our education system and curriculum must reflect this type of moral education so that students can grow up with a developed mindset from an early age.” Zahir Uddin Swapan further said that in the past, there existed a culture of mismanagement and disorder where there was no environment to speak freely about good initiatives or problems. He said the country has now moved beyond that suffocating situation and a space for free discussion has been created. He urged everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to build a moral society. The event was presided over by Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Student Welfare Trust Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Masum. Special guest speakers included State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque. Among others, Chairman of the Bangladesh Student Welfare Trust and former adviser to the caretaker government Professor Moinuddin Khan, and Chairman of Daffodil International University Dr. M. Sabur Khan also spoke at the event. At the end of the seminar, the minister handed over scholarship cheques to meritorious students.
