![]() Chhatra Dal Leader Tarik Says Ideology, Not Position, Inspired His Politics Recently, in a statement posted on Facebook about his political life, he said that because he refused to compromise on questions of ideology, he had repeatedly faced attacks, endured imprisonment, and was even injured by bullets fired by law enforcement agencies. He still carries the scars of those bullets on his body. In his words, every scar reminds him that the price of walking the path of ideology is never easy. He said he did not enter politics in the hope of personal gain, positions, or applause. Rather, he considered standing on the streets against injustice, repression, and autocracy as his political responsibility and moral duty. Standing beside the party during difficult times and playing a role in movements and struggles were, to him, his greatest achievements. Reflecting on his long political journey, Tarik said that during the difficult times of movements and struggles, many of those who sacrifice from the front lines are not properly evaluated in better times. Yet this reality has never made him disappointed or caused him to deviate from his ideals. He believes that temporary deprivation cannot stop the journey of an idealistic activist. ![]() Chhatra Dal Leader Tarik Says Ideology, Not Position, Inspired His Politics Expressing full confidence in the leadership of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he said his faith in the leadership remains firm. He believes that the truth may be suppressed for some time, but it cannot be erased from history. Recognition of sacrifice may be delayed, but the contributions of true sacrifice-makers will one day certainly be acknowledged. He further said that he will never step away from the path of ideals built with blood, sacrifice, and tears. He expressed his firm determination to remain involved in the struggle to establish democracy, people’s rights, and the ideals of the party in the future as well. According to political analysts, properly recognizing dedicated grassroots leaders and activists is not only a moral responsibility for political parties in the country, but also one of the key prerequisites for maintaining organizational strength and unity. Ensuring honor and recognition for activists who have sacrificed in movements and struggles could help strengthen the trust and participation of the new generation in the party. The message conveyed by Md. Tarikul Islam Tarik—that ideology should be valued above personal gain in politics—has sparked renewed discussion on sacrifice, dedication, and ideology-based political practice. |
