OMS of rice at Tk 10 per kg suspended

The government has suspended a special open market sale (OMS) of rice at Tk 10 per kg after some irregularities were found in different parts of the country.

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Food Secretary Musammat Nazmanara Khanum, said the OMS of rice will remain suspended until further notice.

She said: “We have suspended selling rice at Tk10 per kg to avoid mass gatherings that increases the risk of contagion of coronavirus.

“We are now looking for alternative ways to sell rice, by maintaining social distance,” she added.
