BCB announces insurance for U-19 cricketers

Junior tigers have brought first ICC U-19s cricket World Cup trophy beating India in the final in South Africa on February 9 this year. Cricket thinktanks are seeing the future star among many of Akbar Ali-lead team. This time the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has ensured the health and life insurance for the U19s cricketers.

So far, BCB has ensured the insurance for the players under contract only including national team and first-class cricketers. Although there is no formal agreement with the junior Tigers, BCB announced to pay a monthly salary of Tk 1 lakh each for two years after the World Cup. Now, the cricket board made life and health insurance in the name. 

Khaled Mahmood Sujan, head of BCB game development division, confirmed the Young Tiger insurance, saying, "It could have been that they were not champions. In that case, some of the team members could get an opportunity to booked in insurance. Maybe four or five of them could have gone to first-class cricket contracts. Then they could have insurance. This is the first time, Bangladesh made insurance for the U19s.
