Over the past decade, the magic touch of technology has transformed the city as well as the remote rural highways of abominable Bengal overnight and turned it into a locality with equal opportunities in developed countries. During the Coronavirus disaster, the common people of Bangladesh have been able to make a living by utilizing their own technological advantages. Most of the technologies discovered so far in the world are used in Bangladesh at one stage or another. Smartphone and internet usage is on the rise. Beyond 3G 4G, 5G networks are on the verge of launch; Similarly, Bangabandhu satellite-1 of the latest technology is now active in space and is completing various important technological works of the country free from foreign dependence. There is no other developing country like Bangladesh that has been digitized in such a short time. It is to be noted that Bangladesh has also reaped the benefits of using technology for socio-economic development. At present, the country's revenue from information and communication technology (ICT) sector is 100 crore dollars. By the end of 2022, the revenue is expected to reach 500 crore. 28 high-tech parks have been set up across the country. To face the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Bangladesh's IT sector has emphasized on various infrastructural developments including skilled human resources. The government has extended IT services not only in the cities but also beyond the district and upazila headquarters to villages and even remote and inaccessible areas. The Department of Information and Communication Technology has been working on a number of aspects in the implementation of Digital Bangladesh. Those aspects are (a) connectivity and ICT infrastructure (b) human resource development (c) development of ICT industry (d) establishment of e-governance and others. The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is working in collaboration with the government to implement Digital Bangladesh. The main task is to create up-to-date skilled workers who know the use of technology for economic development. According to the Global Skills Index 2019 (GSI), the global skills index of online learning platform Coursera, Bangladesh is doing well in terms of technical skills such as operating system, software engineering. The wonderful advancement of technology in the country is now fully visible. 10 years ago, no one imagined that people at the union level would get internet services. In 2008 there were 24 lakh internet users, now there are about 10 crore. The global BPO market is worth about 600 billion Dollars. Bangladesh's BPO business market has surpassed 300 million Dollars in the last 10 years. The government has now been able to bring down the bandwidth price from Rs 75,000 in 2005 to Rs 400. At present, more than 50,000 youths have been employed in the BPO sector. Experts are calling this development and progress based on information technology as Digital Renaissance. Along with the concept of Digital Bangladesh, it has also had a big impact on people's lives. The big change has come with the introduction of ride sharing services like Uber-Pathao. In this case, as employment has increased, so has the travel benefits of many. Increasing the number of smartphone users has also created new entrepreneurs. The Government of Bangladesh implemented Info Sarkar-2 projects to establish connectivity up to the upazila level across the country. As a result, 58 ministries of the government, 227 departments, offices of deputy commissioners of 64 districts and 18,500 government offices of districts and upazilas have come under the network. Video conferencing systems in 800 government offices, 254 Agriculture Information and Communication Centers (AICC) and 25 telemedicine centers have been set up. 25,000 tabs have been distributed among government officials so that they can carry out their official duties smoothly even from outside the office. The capacity of the existing National datacenter of Bangladesh Computer Council has been increased to 750 terabytes. A specialized lab and a special sound effects lab have been set up under BCC's LICT project to create skilled manpower with higher training in information technology. In addition, equipment has been provided for the establishment of specialized labs in 20 public universities. Activities have started at Kaliakair Hi-Tech Park and Sheikh Hasina Hi-Tech Park in Khulna. Various technical trainings are being imparted by the government. The government has created 600 mobile applications. The government has digitized the traditional judicial practices for more than 200 years. An awareness program has been implemented to prevent cyber harassment and a helpline has also been launched under this program. Startups like Pathao-Uber have been launched. In the meantime, grants have been given to more than hundreds of startup companies. The government has established e-governance at all levels of administration to ensure transparency and accountability in government work, and to provide better public services by establishing linkages between the central and local administrations. The use of technology in journalism has started quite well. Corona-time healthcare has shown tremendous excellence. With the use of technology and the entire education system is being run through technology, leaving the educational institutions closed. Business is also moving online. F-commerce or Facebook based business has developed. Apart from this, a large part of the IT sector in Bangladesh is freelancers. There are about six and a half lakh freelancers in the country. Outside of this are the entrepreneurs in the software sector. The sector is earning more than one billion US dollars. The involvement of women in information technology is another big step forward. Besides, e-commerce and f-commerce sectors are expanding in the country. The presence of women entrepreneurs on social media Facebook is increasing. Shopping is going on in about 20 thousand Facebook pages in the country. Of these, 12,000 pages are run by women. Using Facebook as a medium, women are becoming entrepreneurs with little capital. In the last one year, the e-commerce sector has a turnover of 1,500 crore. Business process outsourcing or BPO is one of the sectors in the information technology of the country. 35,000 young people are working in the sector. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, behind the establishment of Digital Bangladesh and the architect of the silent ICT revolution, is the Prime Minister's Adviser on Information and Communication Technology. Over the last 12 years, he has made significant contributions to the ICT industry, leading the way in bringing all the people of the country under the Internet, creating employment for the youth and bringing the digital services of the government to the doorsteps of the people. He received the ICT for Development Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution in taking Bangladesh to the digital world. If the current trend of using technology and innovating new technologies in our country is maintained, Bangladesh will undoubtedly reach the level of developed world in the next one decade. In the Ninth Parliamentary Election held in December 2008, he was elected Member of Parliament from Singra Upazila of Natore District of Rajshahi Division with the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League. He is the youngest MP of Bangladesh. Besides, the young politician has been serving as the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh since January 22, 2013. Palak was born on 17 May 1980 in Serkol Teligram of Singra upazila of Natore district. His Father's name is Fayez Uddin and mother's name is Jamila Ahmed. Junaid Ahmed passed SSC from Singra Damdama High School in 1995 and HSC from Rajshahi Old Degree College in 1997. He later obtained a master's degree in political science from Dhaka College and an LLB degree from the National University and became a lawyer in the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Following the footsteps of his father, the late Fayez Uddin, Palak joined politics as a member of the Awami League at the age of twenty. At the age of 28, he was nominated by Bangladesh Awami League from Singra constituency in 2007. His wife's name is Arifa Jasmine Konika. The Palak-Konika couple has three children. They are Apurna Junaid, Arjun Junaid and Anirban Junaid.
