![]() Jewellery Expo hits the capital Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) organizes the three-day exposition of precious golden metal marking the birth day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The organisers informed that the expo is being organised for first of its count to contribute to the economic development of the country in directive of BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir. East West Media Group (EWMGL) Director and noted writer Imdadul Haq Milan inaugurated the jewellery expo as chief guest at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. BAJUS former President Dr Dilip Kumar Roy presided over the opening session. In his speech, noted writer Imdadul Haq Milan said the expo will open new windows of opportunities for jewellery in Bangladesh as emerging business leader, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir took the presidency of the trade body. “The expo began in an historic day of March 17, the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabanddhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangabandhu dreamt a prosperous nation under theme of ‘Golden Bangla’. That has a significant meaning for the gold industry. I hope, the industry will bring new identity for Bangladesh globally,” he said. BAJUS former President Dilip Kumar Roy hoped the expo will bring back the golden days of Bangladeshi jewellery business. “The jewelers across the country become rejoice with new dream of prosperity as BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir takes massive strategy for growth of the traditional industry,” he said. BAJUS Vice President Anwar Hossain hoped the gold businesses will explore the untapped markets globally through setting up display centre of Bangladeshi jewellery items aboard. General Secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala said the BAJUS has been working for empowerment of members through nationwide activation and campaign for development of general businesses. Chairman of BAJUS Standing Committee on Exhibition, Trade and Event Management Uttam Banik said the expo will also arrange a fashion show to attract visitors. “New designs of ornaments, made by the goldsmiths of the country, will be put on display at the expo. Besides, industry leaders at home and abroad will exchange their knowledge for further development of the sector,” Uttam Banik, who is also the BAJUS Treasurer, said. The organiser announced mega prize of Tk 1 million as first prize for the lucky visitor of the expo while plenty of gifts will define in raffle draw.
