Preliminary evidence of involvement has been found against 26 individuals in connection with the death of Abu Saeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University (BRUR), who was killed in a police shooting in Rangpur. An additional two months have been granted to complete the investigation of the case. Moreover, the tribunal has ordered the arrest and imprisonment of four detainees, including former BRUR proctor Shariful Islam, in connection with the murder case. Today, Wednesday, the prosecution presented this information before the International Crimes Tribunal. Earlier in the morning, the four individuals were produced before the tribunal. The prosecution informed the tribunal that preliminary evidence of involvement in the murder of Abu Saeed has been found against 26 individuals. The investigation of the case is in its final stage. In the Abu Saeed murder case, the tribunal on this day ordered the formal arrest and imprisonment of four detainees, including former proctor of Begum Rokeya University, Shariful Islam. The others are former police ASI Amir Hossain, Constable Sujan Chandra Roy of Tajhat Police Station, and Imran Chowdhury, General Secretary of the BCL unit at Begum Rokeya University. Earlier, on March 2, the tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza and a three-member judicial panel, granted a prosecution petition and ordered that the four individuals be produced before the tribunal on April 9. According to the Chief Prosecutor, the investigation revealed that two police officers cold-bloodedly shot and killed Abu Saeed, and the university’s proctor was directly involved in the incident. During the anti-discrimination student movement, Abu Saeed was shot and killed on July 16 last year at the Park intersection in front of Begum Rokeya University. He was a student of the 12th batch in the English department. Abu Saeed was one of the key coordinators of the university’s quota reform movement.
