Accused Snatched Away
Officer-in-Charge of Lalpur Police Station and 4 Other Police Officers Withdrawn, Case Filed Against 158 People, 3 ArrestedIn Natore's Lalpur, Joint General Secretary of the District Chhatra Dal, Rubel Uddin, who was under arrest, was forcefully taken away from the police station premises. As a result, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalpur Police Station, Nazmul Haque, along with four other police personnel, has been withdrawn. In connection with the incident, police have arrested three individuals, including Rubel's two sisters and a local Jubo Dal leader.

These events unfolded between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. Natore Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Amzad Hossain confirmed the developments.

Earlier, the police had filed a case against 158 people — 38 of them named — on charges of obstructing government duties.

According to sources at the Natore SP's office, police from Bagatipara Police Station arrested Rubel Uddin in connection with a case and detained him at the Lalpur Police Station on Tuesday afternoon. Upon learning of his arrest, Rubel’s family members along with over a hundred leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations in Lalpur stormed into the station compound, chanting slogans and causing a commotion. At one point, they began chanting in support of Yasir Arshad (Razon), son of deceased BNP leader Fazlur Rahman Patal. The group then forcefully snatched Rubel Uddin from police custody and exited the station, later marching with him along the Lalpur-Bagha road.

In response, army and RAB personnel were deployed at Lalpur Police Station. After sunset, joint forces launched an operation to arrest those involved. By Wednesday morning, they had arrested Rubel Uddin's two sisters — Rupa Khatun (25) and Farzana Yasmin (20) — from his home in Chamtia, and former president of the Kadimchilan Union Jubo Dal, Masud Rana (31). They were taken to the Sadar Police Station for questioning.

SP Mohammad Amzad Hossain stated that appropriate actions have been taken against those who obstructed official duties and snatched the accused from custody. Disciplinary measures have also been initiated against the concerned police officials for negligence in duty.
