Trump decides to suspend new tariffs for 90 days for all countries except China

U.S. President Donald Trump has suspended tariffs on countries other than China for 90 days.

He cited upcoming trade negotiations with foreign nations as the reason for backing off from imposing new tariffs.

This information was reported by The New York Times on Wednesday.

Trump stated that the decision does not apply to China. The total tariff on Chinese goods will be increased from 104% to 125%.

The announcement came after growing public criticism from CEOs and investors, including JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon, who warned on Wednesday that a recession might be imminent.

White House reporters from Reuters said they are trying to gather more details. Trump has already declared a 90-day pause on what he called “reciprocal tariffs.”

Reuters further reported that during this 90-day period, the overall tariff rate has been reduced to 10%.

Following the announcement, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, expressed his thanks to Donald Trump.
