Govt extends military’s magistracy power by 60 more days

The interim government has extended the magistracy powers of the three armed forces by two more months starting Monday, to help ensure law and order across the country.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.
According to the notification, Army, Navy and Air Force officers holding ranks equivalent to an army captain and above can exercise the powers through the specified period.
The government first introduced the measure for two months on 17 September last year, and ever since then, has repeatedly extended the period by two months.
